In memoriam: Dr. Mark Goulston

If you didn’t get to know Mark, the resources I share in this article will make your life richer.

Mark built an incredible legacy, the warm and kindhearted person he was, witty and powerfully eloquent.

Originally a UCLA professor of psychiatry for over 25 years, and a former FBI and police hostage negotiation trainer, Mark later became a successful coach, author, speaker.

We all face death. First through the passing of loved ones – and at some point our own.

Mark did so with inspirational grace.

When he was diagnosed with a severe illness, Mark didn’t hide. Instead, he created the youtube channel “I’m dying to tell you” to share what mortality is teaching him. He recorded the last episode just days before his passing.

The voices celebrating Mark’s life echo what a uniquely wonderful person he was.

I met Mark when he invited me as a guest on his longstanding podcast “My Wakeup Call”. It was the most profound conversation I ever had on a podcast. You can listen to this and over 500 more episode here.

Mark’s book, Just Listen: Discover the Secret to Getting Through to Absolutely Anyone, is a one of the best books I read in this field. His (writing) voice was one of a kind.

I will miss your voice, Mark. A voice of kindness, empathy, and being human.

Thank you for making our lives richer.
